The August garden

I can’t believe it’s the end of August, this year August's weather has been wonderful for working in the garden and my flowers surely love it...Here are some pictures I took today...

Alyssum (sweet alyssum) It's a tough little plant, it stands up to heat and drought ,its very pretty. The whole back yard smells good ,especially in the morning. You only have to cut it back after its first bloom and it will re-bloom for the rest of the summer until frost..It doesn't need any fertilizer. If it doesn't reseed next year I will definitely add it again..

The sunflower looks so beautiful that I had to take a picture of it. I started this sunflower from seed..
I noticed sunflowers grown on part shade tend to be shorter with smaller seed heads..The seed heads from the ones grown on the sun were too big and heavy for the plants...These variety of sunflower only flowers one flower and they are done for the summer.I wont grow this variety anymore..

I went to Hope Depot last week  and bought a Goldenrod plant...
